Experience Highlights: Ken began working in the actuarial field in 1976, and joined BPS&M in 1978, opening the Louisville office of the firm in 1979. His primary area of expertise is in the design, funding, administration and regulatory compliance of qualified and nonqualified retirement plans. His clients comprise a variety of employers, including Native American Tribes, governmental entities, not-for-profit and for-profit private employers. Ken heads the firm’s ESOP Practice Group and has extensive experience in assessing the feasibility of establishing ESOPs, including repurchase liability studies. He has presented at the annual Enrolled Actuaries Meeting on various employee benefits issues, has written articles on retirement plan topics, and has spoken at various venues, including IRS internal training seminars. Ken is a member of the BPS&M management committee and has been a principal in the firm since 1982. He has served on the Joint Program Committee for the Enrolled Actuaries Meeting, the largest professional conference for Enrolled Actuaries, chairing that meeting in 2003.

Ken has served as President of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (2008) and President of the American Academy of Actuaries (2010), and as a member of each Board for many years. He has also been a member of the management committee of the International Association of Consulting Actuaries. He currently serves as the International Secretary for the American Academy of Actuaries.

Education and Professional Designations: Ken received BA and MA degrees in Mathematics from the University of Louisville. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.

Memberships: Ken is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (past President), a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (past President), a member of the ESOP Association (past Vice President for Kentucky), and a member of the National Center for Employee Ownership. He is also a past President of the Louisville Employee Benefit Council.
